Purpose
Replace
Applications
Tech Note 1: Anti-Seize
Before installing your new Brake Shields, apply a thin film of S9975 or S81343 Anti-Seize Lubricant to the part of the shield that will be sandwiched between the steering knuckle and wheel hub. Doing so will minimize corrosion between the three components.
Tech Note 2: Purpose
The primary function of a disc brake shield is to protect the rotors from road splash. The secondary function is to provide adequate air flow for cooling the rotors. Although the left and right shields look similar, they are not interchangeable as the air venting is different for the two sides.
Tech Note 3: Replace
Replace any brake shield that is cracked or badly rusted.
