QU50674 Shift Support O-Ring for NV271, NV273 Transfer Cases

QU50674 O-Ring, Shift Support to Case for 1999-2001 Ford NV271F, NV273F Transfer Cases and many 2003 Dodge Ram NV271D, NV273D transfer cases. The early production NV271 and NV273 transfer cases used a screw in Shift Support that was grooved for this O-Ring. Imported.

Tech Note 1: Before Installing
Lubricate the O-Ring with a thin film of petroleum jelly before installation

Tech Note 2: Gasket
QU10950, Metal/Rubber Gasket which is the Sealing Gasket used between the shift support and case on later production NV271/NV273 Transfer Cases should not be used on early production cases that originally used QU50674 O-Ring because the additional thickness of Sealing Gasket can cause interference issues.

Tech Note 4: Assembly Numbers
When Ford (1999 models) and Dodge (2003 models) first used NV271 and NV273 transfer cases, New Process Gear (NPG) of East Syracuse N.Y. was part of New Venture Gear (NVG). When NVG dissolved, NPG continued on under Chrysler. Chrysler subsequently sold the production rights to Magna, a Canadian automotive parts company. All these name changes are confusing, but the important thing to know is a specific assembly number for any 271F, 271D, 273D, and 273F transfer case is the same and uses the same replacement parts regardless if it was built by New Venture, New Process, or Magna.
