Description
QU40784 Greaseable 1310 Series Universal Joint is a hot-forged, alloy steel, case hardened universal joint that fits a multitude of 4x4 front and rear driveshaft applications from the 1940's to current. These are very good quality universal joints with flexible nitrile rubber seals to purge water and excess grease. QU40784 has precision ground, case hardened cups with lubrication grooves making them an excellent choice for your 1310 series front and rear driveshafts. Assembled in U.S.A of domestic and imported components.

Tech Note 1: U-Joint Specs
QU40784 are external snap ring type universal joints made to Spicer 1310 series dimensional specifications. The u-joint cup diameter is 1-1/16". The overall width is 3-7/32".
Tech Note 2: EZ-Grease Option
With a grease fitting threaded into one of the bearing cups, QU40939 makes it easy to grease your grease your u-joints in tight quarters. Most 4x4 Double Cardan Constant Velocity CV Joints are located in hard to access places making it almost impossible to grease the two u-joints in the vehicle when the grease fitting is in the cross, With our EZ-Grease U-joints, the cup mounted fitting is right out in the open, saving you time, every time you crawl under your 4x4 with a grease gun.
Tech Note 3: Tech Help
More universal joints and driveshaft yokes are wrecked by slam-bang methods of u-joint replacement than by any other cause. Refer to TM3000 Driveshaft and Universal Joint Manual or TSB3502 External Snap Ring Single-Cardan U-Joint Service.
Tech Note 4: Grease Schedule
Service intervals for this greaseable universal joint will vary with your driving conditions and type of grease you use, but as a minimum, you should grease your u-joints with QU90018 Pyroplex® Plus Synthetic Grease or other quality, water resistant NLGI #2 GC-LB grease at every oil change or every three months which ever comes sooner. Lube more frequently in extremely wet conditions or after submersion under water. Remember, a greaseable joint that is not regularly lubed will prematurely fail from water contamination or grease loss. So, if you and your grease gun don't get together very often, we recommend you select the more expensive TK40720 Torque King® premium non-greaseable universal joint which has an average life of 7-10 years due to it's durable cold-forged cross, factory synthetic lubricant, and superior seals which keeps contaminants out.
