QU40770 1-3/8" 16 Spline 7260 Series Greaseable Slip Yoke for Dodge is an aftermarket part that fits aftermarket 1-3/8" x 16 spline slip stubs such as our QU40740 that are commonly used to replace worn out the smaller (1-1/4") original equipment slip stubs used by Dodge from 1960 to 1993 on many full size truck models. Tech Note 1: U-Joint Specs
This yoke is made to fit Detroit 7260 series u-joints that were originally made by Chrysler's (now defunct) Detroit Universal division. 7260 Series u-joints are retained by internal c-clips that fit against the inside of the yoke ears. Width between the yoke ears is 2-1/8". U-Joint cup diameter is 1.078". Standard Duty U-Joint is QU40751. Heavy Duty U-Joint part number is QU40794.
Tech Note 2: Yoke Specs
QU40770 typically mates to 16 spline slip stubs that have 1.375" outside diameter partial length splines (spline length is usually 2.25" to 3"). The yoke measures 6-7/8" from the center of the u-joint hole to the end of the spline. This slip yoke WILL NOT fit factory driveshafts with 1-1/4" x 16 spline slip stubs! (See QU40728).
Tech Note 3: Install Press-on Seal First
Install the press-on seal onto the slip yoke BEFORE trying to install the Slip Yoke on the splined slip stub.
Tech Note 4: Tech Help
The Slip Yoke and weld Yoke at the opposite end of the tube MUST be in phase (See TM3000 Driveshaft Manual).
