QU40701 Fine Spline 1330 Series Front Driveshaft Slip Yoke for Dodge Ram

QU40701 29 Spline Based on 30 Spline 1330 Series Factory Replacement Front CV Driveshaft Slip Yoke for Dodge Ram is the exact replacement part for early 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 and Dodge Ram 3500 with 29 spline based on 30 spline Slip Stub. Will also fit 1988.5 to 1998 Dodge Ram full size trucks and 1993 Cummins Diesel 4x4s with original equipment front driveshafts by using a conversion Universal Joint (See Tech Note 2). Tech Note 1: U-Joint Series
QU40701 is made to take Spicer 1330 series specification 3-5/8" wide, external snap ring universal joints universal joints with 1-1/16" cups. Most 1999 Dodge Ram trucks that use this slip yoke as original equipment had a factory 1330 x 7290 series conversion u-joint (2 external snap ring 1-1/16" cups and two 1-1/8" internal c-clip cups). For these applications, use TK40804 or QU40764 u-joints. You may also find some late production or modified trucks that use straight 1330 series u-joints (all cups are 1-1/16" diameter). For these vehicles, the matching universal joints are TK40721 and QU40774.

Tech Note 2: Slip Yoke Replacement
This Slip Yoke can be used to replace the out of production, original equipment, 1993 to 1998 Dodge 7290 series (1-1/8" cup size 2-5/8" between yoke ears), 29 spline based on 30 Spline Slip Front Driveshaft Yokes by using either TK40804 or QU40764 universal joints instead of the original u-joint. For 1988-1992 Vehicles (built after March 28, 1988) with Detroit Universal 7260 series U-joints (1.078" Cup size, 2-1/8" between yoke ears), order QU40926 1330 x 7260 Conversion U-Joint.

Tech Note 3: Retrofitting
QU40701 can be used to retrofit some Dodge/Plymouth rear driveshafts as far back as 1986. The possible rear driveshaft applications include 1986-1989 T4 Front Section Van Chassis and 1987-1993 Dakota. QU40701 will fit front or rear driveshaft s with 29 spline stubs on 1988-1993 Ramcharger, Trailduster, or Ram Truck built after March 28, 1988. QU40701 and the correct conversion u-joint are compatible if your rear driveshaft has ALL these features: U-Joints 7260 (1.078" Cup, 2-1/8" between yoke ears) or 7290 (1-1/8" cup, 2-5/8" between yoke ears) 29 Spline Slip Joint Boot has large diameter end on Slip Yoke and small diameter end on splined stub

Tech Note 4: Yoke Dimensions
For Dodge drive shafts that use this Slip Yoke, the outside diameter of the male 29 based on 30 spline or straight 30 spline slip stub will be 1-9/32". In most cases, The matching female slip yoke will have 29 normal splines plus one double width spline. By now many of these older shafts have had the slip joint replaced with a different size so if YOUR driveshaft SPLINES do NOT match these specifications, DO NOT ORDER this Yoke!

Tech Note 5: Lubricants/Sealants/Threadlockers
This Slip Yoke is designed to be used with a protective boot so it does not have provisions for lubricating it after it is installed. You MUST coat the splines of the yoke and slip stub with QU90018 Pyroplex® Plus Synthetic Grease or other quality, water resistant NLGI #2 GC-LB grease during assembly. Be careful not to apply excessive lubricant as it may blow out the Slip Yoke end cap when the installed driveshaft articulates during vehicle operation.
