QU40084 Large Driveshaft or Ford IFS Axle Shaft Boot Clamp

QU40084 Large Driveshaft or Ford IFS Axle Shaft Boot Clamp is a one-ear, crimp type stainless steel clamp that is mainly used on mid 1980s and newer driveshafts to seal the large end of 4 or 5 Pleat Driveshaft Boot to the female spline Slip Yoke. QU40084 is also used on 1990-1997 Ford Dana 35IFS, 1983-1996 Ford Dana 44IFS  and 1983-1997 Ford Dana 50 IFS Axle Shaft Slip Yokes. Made in Canada.

Tech Note 1: Maintenance
A boot protected driveshaft slip joint will usually outlast the truck as long as the boot is intact and there is some grease on the splines. If your Boot is damaged, REPLACE IT! If your Boot is OK, but you are doing other driveshaft service, always clean and grease the splines AND replace the clamps!

Tech Note 2: Clamp Tool
Using a Clamp Tool specifically made to tighten eared clamps around the driveshaft boot is the best way to tension a stainless steel Boot Clamp to provide an air and watertight seal. QU40084 is used to seal the large end of popular driveshaft and axle shaft slip yoke boots. Special crimping pliers like our QT4018i is the preferred method of closing the clamp, but hoof nippers or some types of wire cutters can be used in an emergency, but the results are often unsatisfactory.
