Tech Note 1: About QU20242U
QU20242U Used Brake Rotors are taken from axle assemblies our Research and Development Department had for part verification and tool design purposes. These rotors are all above the minimum discard thickness. The rotors will be rusty, but offer a lower cost alternative compared to new rotors. I recommend you have the rotors machined with a Ford approved, on-the-vehicle brake lathe after installation to remove the rust and to get minimal run out
Tech Note 2: Before Installing
Before installing you brake rotor on the hub, remove any rust or dirt from the hub face. Rust scale or dirt on either the hub face and/or rotor mating surface will cause the rotor to distort when the wheel nuts are tightened. This will cause a pulsating brake pedal. I also like to put a THIN film of anti-seize compound on the mating faces of the hub and rotor before installation to prevent rust buildup.
Tech Note 3: Use Torque Wrench
When installing your wheels, always tighten your lug nuts evenly in a crisscross pattern with a torque wrench. To insure all the nuts are evenly torqued, torque to the final value at least twice
Tech Note 4: Removing Wheel
Use care anytime you take the wheel off your 4x4. With slip-on type rotors, dirt and crud can fall down between the rotor and hub face anytime you remove the wheel. If your brake pedal pulsates after you rotate your tires, the two most likely causes are dirt between the hub and rotor or improper wheel nut torque.
Tech Note 5: March 22, 1999 & Newer Vehicles
QU20242 Rotor fits vehicles assembled after March 22, 1999. It will not fit earlier production 4x4s due to a difference in the rotor offset.
