Applications
Tech Note 1: Screw Specs
Chrysler has used so many different part numbers for 9-/14" rear axle limited slip differentials that I can not say for sure which years use this Lock Screw. This is the correct Screw for your Dodge 9-1/4" limited slip differential if your original screw matches these characteristics of QU11100:
Overall Length approximately 2-3/8"
5/16" hex head
Taper Seat between hex head and threads
5/16" x 18 TPI threads about 9/16" long
.229" diameter smooth shank with a length of just under 1-3/8"
Tech Note 2: Does Not Fit Open Diffs
This Screw DOES NOT fit factory open Differentials! See QU11094.
Tech Note 3: Replace on Every Service
I like to replace Diff Cross Shaft Lock Screw on every service that entails removing it. Why? Because these little guys are subject to fatigue weakening and are easy to over torque during installation. Twist the head off one of these Screws and you know have a BIG Problem: with a Semi-Float rear axle, you can not remove the differential until the axle shafts are taken out, but you can't get the shafts out until you remove the diff cross shaft and axle shaft C-Clips, which can't be removed due to the broken Lock Screw.
