Shift Forks are genuine New Process/New Venture components for maximum durability and precise fit. Shift fork tip wear is fairly common in NP241DHD transfer cases. 241 forks that need replacement are often the victim of low/improper lubrication, broken snap rings, or bearing wear. All 1998-2002 NP241DHD Range Forks have molded, non-replaceable pads. The Mode Fork however, does have replaceable pads.
NP241DHD Range Fork Sleeves are subject to wear in three places: The clutch teeth, Bearing Surface, and Hub/Snap ring area. Of the three, the most likely problem area is where QU50151 Hub fits. It is not uncommon to find the shoulder, hub surface, and snap ring groove chewed up. There can be several causes including lubrication issues, Mainshaft snap ring failures, and Range Fork (QU50078) wear.
