The ring and pinion gear sets used in 1976-1979 Ford F100/F150 and 1978-1979 Bronco Dana 44 front axles have a reverse cut or spiral compared to the conventional Dana 44 gear sets found in 1971-1977 Broncos. The engineering reason for this is the pinion gear in 1976-1979 F100/F150 Ford Dana 44 axles is located above the axle center line. Reverse Spiral Gear Sets are NOT interchangeable with standard Dana 44 gear sets.
