2000-2005 Ford Excursion 4x4s use Dana 50 monobeam front axles. Externally, the Model 50 Axle looks almost exactly like a Dana 60 used on most of the Super Duty 4x4s of the same vintage, however, all the internal differential components are substantially smaller.
Most of the Dana 50 axle components for the Excursion remained unchanged throughout the six year product cycle (2000-2005), but there are some year and model differences including outer axle shafts, knuckle seals, and wheel hubs. We have a variety of parts, tools, and service information available for your 2000 to 2005 Excursion. Some 1999-2004 F-250 and F-350 models also use the Dana 50 front axle. See our 1999-2004 Super Duty Dana 50 Front Axle web page for parts.
Compared to the preceding body style F-250 and F-350 4x4s, your Excursion 4x4 front axle has a number of design differences that require unique tools and repair procedures especially in regards to the outer axle shaft and wheel hub. Servicing these axles is not hard, IF you know what to expect and have access to accurate service information at least a couple of special tools.
Production of Dana 50 front axles ended when the Excursion was dropped by Ford at the end of the 2005 model year.
