Dodge used different, non-interchangeable wheel hubs for Dana 60 rear axles. Axles rated under 6200 pounds use hubs with identical inner and outer wheel bearings. Hubs for 6200 pound and higher single rear wheel applications have a larger inner wheel bearing. The hub used for dual rear wheel axles.
Dodge used 5500 pound rated Dana 60 and 6200 pound capacity Dana 60HD rear axles in 1972-1993 D200 4x2 , and W200 4x4 3/4 ton trucks, plus for the 1979 model year, a 6200 pound capacity Dana 60HD was also offered as the base D300 4x2 1 ton rear axle. During the 1972-1979 model years, Dodge made a number of engineering changes on Dana 60 series rear axles, including different wheel bearings for the 5500 pound Dana 60. Until the end of the 1976 model year, Dodge Single Rear Wheel Dana 60 rear axles with up to 12" x 2-1/2" brakes had 1-13/16" ID outer wheel bearings. Effective with the 1977 model year, Dodge Dana 60 rear axles in standard D200/D250/W200/W250 trucks and standard B300/B350 vans with up to 12" x 2-1/2" rear brakes came with identical 2"ID inner and outer rear wheel bearings. Dodge did also use a number of different single and dual rear wheel Dana 60HD configurations with 12 x3 brakes that use different inner/outer bearings depending upon if the axle has single or dual rear wheels.
Dodge matches the wheel bearings and seals used with an axle to the original rear brake size. For 1980-1993 Dodge Dana 60 rear axles in gas engine D250/W250 trucks and standard B350 vans, the original rear brake size is almost always either 12" x 2" or 12" x 2-1/2". These axles use QU50411/QU50412 for both inner and outer bearings. Dodge did also use a number of different single and dual rear wheel Dana 60HD configurations with 12"x 3" or 12" x 3-1/2" rear brakes with different inner/outer bearings in special purpose trucks, vans and motor homes.
