Our inventory of complete rebuilt driveshaft assemblies changes constantly due to a shortage of good rebuildable cores. For new driveshafts, we offer heavy duty 1350 series Double Cardan CV Shafts as complete welded and balanced assemblies or money saving unfinished shafts.
When installed in a vehicle with the weight on the tires, a Driveshaft should have the slip joint positioned at about the midpoint of it's normal travel. Most full size truck slip joints have a normal travel length of 2.75" to 3". The exact point of the slip joint at rest position will vary depending on the vehicle loading and condition of the front springs. If a driveshaft is too long, you can damage the driveshaft or even break a transfer case. Too short of a driveshaft can cause increase spline wear, or worse, allowing the slip joint to separate as the axle articulates up and down while driving.
