The Dana 35 Twin Traction Beam Independent Front Suspension (IFS) front axle had a short production life of only 8 years. It was used in most 1990-1997 Ford Ranger pickups, some 1990 Bronco IIs, and all 1990-1994 Ford Explorers. The Dana 35IFS front axle is similar to the Dana 28IFS front axle used in previous Ranger pickups in that it uses one left axle beam that includes the differential assembly and one right axle beam, but most Dana 35 components are larger than the Dana 28. For the 1995 model year, the Dana 35 Twin Traction Beam front axle was replaced in the Explorer by a conventional IFS front axle that uses upper and lower control arms instead of axle beams. Original Equipment Parts support for the 1990-1997 Dana 35IFS Twin Traction Beam front axle is marginal from both Ford and Dana, however, we still can supply you with most needed parts using New Old Stock (NOS), aftermarket, and used parts sources.
