The Dana 30 beam type, live spindle, non-disconnect front axle was used on many Jeep models through 2006. At the time of its introduction in the 1985 XJ, Jeep was also using a Dana 30 with serviceable wheel bearings in the CJ-7 and a Central Axle Disconnect (CAD) Dana 30 in the XJ series. The CJ was dropped after the 1986 model year, but both disconnect and non-disconnect Dana 30 axles were used concurrently through 1996. The non-disconnect Dana 30 beam type front axle continued to be used on XJ models through 2001, ZJ Grand Cherokees through 1998, and as the stock axle on the TJ Wrangler to 2006. The Dana 30 was replaced by a Dana Super 30 as the stock axle in the 2007 Jeep JK Wrangler. 1999-2004 Grand Cherokees use a Dana Super 30 front axle that shares many components with standard contemporary Dana 30 Jeep axles.
