We stock the world's most complete selection of front Double Cardan CV driveshaft parts for 1975.5 to 1993 Dodge full size 4x4 vehicles. For a little history: Partway through the 1975 model year, Dodge made a supplier switch for front Double Cardan Constant Velocity Joints used in the firm's full size 4x4s from Dana Spicer to General Motor's Saginaw Division. The new shafts retained the same size tubing as the previous shaft, but the CV Joint was GM's new, serviceable S44 Double Cardan Constant Velocity Joint. The slip joint for the new shaft was supplied by Chrysler's own Detroit Universal Division who also made the front universal joint. An interesting feature of the S44 CV head was the use of plastic injections to retain the u-joint caps instead of metal snap rings, however, the yokes are machined on the inside to accept replacement universal joints with internal c-clip cup retention. The S44 CV Joint was used unchanged all the way through the end of the 1993 model year on all Dodge and Plymouth full size 4x4s through 1 ton size. Detroit Universal supplied the slip joints for all those shafts, but there were several design changes over the years. Dodge was the last 4x4 manufacturer to utilize the Saginaw S44 CV Joint, replacing it for the 1994 model year with a Spicer type 1330 series CV joint.
