An available heavy-duty 4 speed manual transmission used in 1967-1972 GM full size 1/2 ton to 1 ton trucks was the wide-ratio (6.69:1) New Process NP435 which is only synchronized for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gears. The NP435 has a direct drive 1:1 4th gear.
