The dead spindle design of the 1985-1993 Dodge Dana 44 CAD front axle uses a needle bearing to support the right outer axle shaft and on 1988-1993 left outer axle shafts. On 1985-1987 trucks, no spindle bearing is used on the LEFT side as the left inner axle shaft is supported next to the yoke by QU50155 Bearing although a Seal Retainer (which is no longer available) is installed in the spindle in place of the bearing. The Spindle itself is the same. To protect the spindle bearing and control axial thrust, a 4 piece set consisting of an Axle Shaft Slinger, Large V-Seal, Small V-Seal, and Thrust Washer was used.
