According to Dana-Spicer, they used only the 4 slot front spindle nut type for 1983-1997 F-350 Dana 60 Front Axles with manual hubs. However, the Ford factory parts lists shows the 6 Slot nut type as being used all the way to early 1985. The only way to know for sure what spindle nut your '83-'85 axle has is to remove the hub-lock and see what is in there! 1994-1997 Trucks with automatic hubs use a special rounded hex spindle nut.
The dead, hollow spindle design of the 1980-1992 era Ford Dana 50 IFS axles use QU40149 needle bearing to support the outer axle shaft. Axial thrust is handled by a plastic thrust washer. Two V-Seals are used to protect the spindle bearing. We stock all the individual components, plus Kits combining the pieces.
