Dana 50IFS front axle beams and diff housings were pretty much unchanged from 1983 to 1997. 1982 and earlier diff housings were configured for a bolt-in right differential output shaft. Very early production differential housings used two 3/8" bolts to attach the differential housing to the reinforcement plate on the left beam. The bolt size was increased to 1/2" in late 1980 or 1981 so the two plate holes in the axle beam were larger for all subsequent axles. 1983 and later housing have differential output shafts that are held in place by a snap ring next to the differential side gear. The axle beams were the same for 1983-1997 axles, but different replaceable upper ball joint camber bushings were used depending upon the year and suspension. I recommend you replace the Axle Beam Pivot Bushing before installing one of these Used Axle Beams.
