Housings: NP205 main housings are constructed from tough cast iron so case breakage or cracking is fairly rare. We have a limited stock of good, used empty cases. Most of the replacement cases we sell are for conversion applications that require a different input shaft and input bearing. It is usually cheaper to buy a different case instead of having a machine shop modify your old one. We also have some of the housing covers.
Retainers: All the bearing and seal retainers on NP205 transfer cases are made from cast aluminum. The aluminum construction means these parts can be easily damaged or destroyed by rough service procedures. Most of the retainers we sell are to replace ones that somebody wrecked trying to remove the seal or separate the retainer from the main case. The round, 4 bolt input retainer (QU50188) has even been known to crack when trying to drive out a stuck seal. Be careful with these things because replacement supplies are very limited and the price is not getting any cheaper.
