We stock a complete line of parts for the open knuckle, Dana-Spicer Model 60 Front Axle which was first used by GM in the 1 ton Chevy K30 and GMC K35 4x4 trucks for the 1977 model year. The Dana 60 axle has much larger components than the Model 44 or GM 10 bolt front axles used on previous GM 4x4s. The Model 60 as used by GM from 1977 to 1991 has very durable greaseable king pins and disc brakes. The wheel bearings are serviceable and the dead-spindle configuration allows the use of lockout hubs.
When GM first introduced the 1 ton 4x4 truck in 1977, Chevy used the model number K30 to designate it's 1 ton 4x4 and the GMC version was K35. Later on, first GMC and later Chevy switched to K3500. When GM introduced the new K-series aerodynamic body style in 1988, the old square body style 1 ton 4x4 became a V3500 until the end of production in 1991. GM also used the Dana 60 front axle in 1984 to 1988 military CUCV models based on the civilian Blazer and GM pickup bodies. Mechanically, the front axles are almost identical to the civilian axles except there was no lockout hub option and military trucks could have a Trac-Lok limited slip front differential.
