TKA2053 9 Piece Idler Gear and Output Shaft Shim Kit contains an assortment of shims from 0.004" to 0.040" for precise adjustment of your New Process NP205, NP200, or NP201 gear drive Transfer Case Idler Gear end-play. Also used on NP200 and NP201 rear output shafts. We made this Torque King® Kit out of quality precision stamped and de-burred shims that have the correct ID/OD to clear the idler shaft and idler bearing cage. USA Made.

Tech Note 1: End-Play
Set NP201 and NP205 Idler Gear End-Play from 0.000" to 0.002". Most Factory Shop Manuals specify an NP200 Idler Gear End-Play of 0.000" with no bearing preload.

The factory specification for Rear Output Shaft Bearing Preload on NP200 and NP201 Transfer Cases is 15 to 30 INCH-pounds.

Tech Note 2: Recommended Shim Kit
TKA2053 Shim Kit has enough shims to precisely adjust the bearing end-play on one shaft. You should never need ALL the shims in a kit to adjust a single shaft, however, the remaining shims are usually not enough to adjust two shafts.

NP200 Transfer Cases have 3 components that require bearing adjustment; The upper Rear Output Shaft (Park Brake Shaft), The Lower Rear Output Shaft (for rear axle drive), and Idler Gear. For the NP200 I recommend you get 3 Shim Kits.

NP201 Transfer Cases have components that require bearing adjustment; The Rear Output Shaft and Idler Gear. For the NP200 I recommend you get 2 Shim Kits.

NP205 Transfer Cases only require shims for the Idler Gear. I recommend you order 1 Shim Kit for an NP205 Transfer Case.

Tech Note 4: Different Nomenclatures
Some Dodge Shop Manuals refer to the New Process NP200 Transfer Cases as model 39360. An alternative model designation for the Dodge NP201 is model 95060.

For International, The NP201 designation is Model T-140 or Code 13140.

Jeep Service Manuals call the NP200 the 200 Series.
