Tech Note 1: Failed Hublocks
On Ford Dana 50 and 1999-2004 Dana 60 monobeam front axles the hublock helps support the axle shafts. If your axle u-joints freeze up or the axle shaft support needle bearing pressed in the wheel hub fails, there is a good chance the hublock will get wrecked. If your hublocks failed ALWAYS check the axle u-joint, axle shaft support bearing, and ball joints to find the CAUSE of the failure.

Tech Note 2: Outer Axle Shaft
Outer Axle Shafts (QU40318) are one of the most common parts needing to be replaced on these vehicles due to damage caused by water infiltration wrecking the Axle Shaft Support Bearing (QU40143). A worn out or improperly installed Outer Axle Shaft to Knuckle Seal (see QU40233, QU20035, and QT1515) will allow water to contaminate the Axle Support Bearing grease. Once that happens, your Axle Shaft Support Bearing (QU40143) and your Outer Axle Shaft will grind against each other any time the hubs are in the free position. By the time you hear or feel something wrong the damage is done. Check the hublocks, vacuum hose for damage.

Tech Note 3: Tapered Design
The tapered design of Ford factory type Hublocks allows them to be used on trucks with either single or dual rear wheels. Aftermarket hubs like our QU56011 Warn Hubs can only be used on trucks with single rear wheels. Aftermarket hubs will not fit inside the front wheel extension adapter found on dually trucks
