International offered optional Dana 70 Front Axles for both 1 ton and 2 Ton 4x4 standard production trucks starting with the C-130 1 Ton in 1961. Dana 70 FA52 axles from 4x4 1 ton C-130 (1961-1962), C-1300 (1963-1964), D-1300 (1965), 1300A (1966), 1300B (1967), 1300C (1968) models have different wheel bearings and seals compared to 1969-1975 1 Ton FA52 axles. The 1961 to 1968 axles may have either 6 bolt (6x7-1/4" bolt circle, used with all EXCEPT 18" wheel) or Budd 5 bolt (used with 18" wheel) front wheels depending upon the tire size the truck was originally built with, but the wheel bearings and seals are the same. One Ton 4x4 1300D (1969-1970), 1310 (1971-1973), and 200 (1974-1975) Dana 70 closed knuckle front axles all have 8 bolt front wheels with a 6-1/2" bolt circle. The smaller wheel bolt circle required a change to smaller outside diameter front wheel bearings compared to those used on 1961-1968 axles. Although smaller, the 1 ton 1969-1975 bearings/seals are more than adequately sized for the rated axle capacity. The few Loadstar 1600 2 ton Dana 70 4x4 6,000 pound rated front axles we have seen use the same wheel bearings and seals as the 1961-1968 1 tons, however, if you have one of the 2 ton front axles, we suggest you call us before ordering parts.
