Scouts with manual lock-out hubs or solid drive flanges use the same four piece spindle nut parts as the World War II military MA and MB Jeeps. A thrust washer is used between the outer wheel bearing and inner spindle nut. The inner nut adjusts the wheel bearing end-play. The outer nut functions as a lock nut, it is held in place by a bend-over lock washer located between the two nuts. Vehicles with Warn Lock-O-Matic Hubs require special lockwashers and round outer nuts.
One of these QU40321 Spindle Bushings are pressed into the inboard side of each spindle to support your outer axle shaft. These are one of the most common 1967-1971 IHC Scout or 1971-1973 Jeep Wagoneer Dana 30 closed knuckle front end parts requiring replacement as both the thrust face and inside diameter of the Bushing are subject to wear.
