For the 1994 to 2002 model years, only Dodge Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 trucks with center bearing supported 2 part rear driveshafts will use a Slip Stub. These Midship Splined Slip Stubs are used with QU40128 Boot Kit, QK3064 Center Bearing, and QU40844 Slip Yoke. 3", 3.5", and 4" diameter rear driveshafts were used depending upon the year, truck model, engine, and transmission. The Slip Stub for the 4" diameter shafts is no longer available.
1994-2002 Dodge Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 trucks with Dana full float rear axles* and 2 piece rear driveshafts have a slip joint protected by a rubber boot just aft of the Center Bearing. A boot protected driveshaft slip joint will usually outlast the truck as as long as the boot is intact and there is some grease on the splines. If your Boot is damaged, REPLACE IT! If your Boot is OK, but you are doing other driveshaft service, always clean and grease the splines AND replace the clamps!
*Except for a few very light duty Ram 2500 trucks with small gas engines and Chyrsler 9.25" semi-float rear axles, all 1994-2002 Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 models have Dana full float rear axles.
