Center Bearings 1966-1979 Ford Rear DS

The maximum length a steel single piece driveshaft can be made is about 60". Extended wheel base 4x4s and many 4x2 trucks require rear driveshafts in excess of 60" so a two piece rear driveshaft supported in the middle by a Midship Center Bearing is used.
