Important Note about Interchangeability of Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) Axle Shafts with Non-ABS Outer Axle Shafts:
The only difference between ABS and non-ABS axles is ABS outer shafts have a pressed on cast tone ring/slinger which was used on 1994-1997 trucks with external ABS sensors, while non-ABS outer shafts had a tin slinger. Our Outer Axle Shafts have ABS tone rings so they will fit both ABS or non-ABS axles. So even though the tone ring may look different than what you have, it will seamlessly interchange with absolutely no problems for fit or function.

Over the years, Dana Engineers have made two significant design changes to the threaded end of QU40325 Outer Axle Shafts (Click Here to See Image of Thread Changes). The first change was to shorten the thread length about 3/8" by removing the threads from the outer end of the Axle Shaft. (From the Cotter Key hole out is now un-threaded). By doing so, the chances of stripping threads when removing the nut are reduced. The second change was to flatten a portion of the remaining threads to function as a locking feature. So don't be alarmed when you see an area of mashed looking threads on your new axle shaft that looks like somebody whacked it with a hammer. According to Dana engineering, this is to provide greater resistance to the nut backing off. The Torque specification remains unchanged and you must still use a Cotter Key.

Our most popular choice is our TK40712 cold-forged, non-greaseable, original equipment replacement U-Joint. The wear-resistant cold-forged cross and superior sealing make it the best choice for both low maintenance and long life. QU90007 are hot-forged and are equipped with simple rubber seals. They are greaseable through a flush fitting threaded into one of the caps. With good maintenance and quality lubricant like our Pyroplex® Plus Grease, these joints will last and last.
