The AAM 12" rear axles are conventional, integral type housing hypoid gear iron-beam axles with two pinion bearings. The AAM 12" Rear Axle replaced the AAM 1180 11.8" Rear Axle that was used on most Cummins Diesel powered Ram 3500 DRW trucks from 2013-2018. The new AAM 12" rear axle was used in 2019-up Ram 3500 pickups with High Output Cummins Diesel and Max Tow options as well as 2019-up Ram 3500 Chassis Cab trucks with the Cummins Diesel and AHQ Max Tow options.
