The AAM 11.5" rear axle is a conventional, integral type housing hypoid gear iron-beam axles with two pinion bearings. The 11.5" Axle family has been used in Ram trucks since 2003.
2019-up Ram 3500 pickups with either 6.4L gas engines or the standard Cummins Diesel engine will have an AAM 11.5" rear axle. Ram 3500 DRW 34" frame width Chassis Cab trucks without the AHQ Max-Tow option will have option code DRX AAM 1150 11.5" ring gear Rear Axles and either the 6.4L gas engine or the standard Cummins Diesel engine. Ram 3500 pickups with the Cummins High Output engines have the AAM 12" rear axle as well as the Ram 3500 Chassis Cab trucks with the Cummins Diesel and AHQ Max-Tow option.
