The S111 Rear Axle features a welded housing, 12-1/4" (311 mm) ring gear, and a drop-out type carrier assembly.

Initially the S-111 rear axle was offered with both Truetrac® limited slip and open and differentials, but the open diff option was dropped after a short time, so almost all Ram trucks with the S-111 rear axle will have limited slip differentials.
