Tech Note 1: Drum Brakes, Ford and Jeep
Y442007 Spindle Kit only fits 4x4s with front drum brakes.
Ford did not introduce front disc brakes for the Bronco and F100 4x4s until the start of the 1976 model year.
Jeep offered J-Series full size Cherokee, J10 truck, and Wagoneer 4x4s with optional front disc brakes for the 1974-1976 model years. If your big Jeep has front disc brakes, you need QU40593J Spindle.

Tech Note 2: QU42007 Contents
QU42007 New Spindle Kit includes:
New Spindle (not available separately)
X10000 spindle bearing (factory installed)
QU40070 spindle thrust washer
QU40071 large spindle seal

Tech Note 3: QU42008U Bare Spindle
QU42008U Use Bare Spindle includes just the spindle itself with no bearing, seal, or thrust washer. To complete the spindle, you also need to order these optional new parts:
X10000 spindle bearing
QU40070 spindle thrust washer
QU40071 large spindle seal

Tech Note 4: V-Seals, Early Applications
A small number of very early production axles may be found with QU20040 2" ID Rubber V-Seal instead of QU40071 2-1/4" Large Rubber V-Seal. The two seal types are not interchangeable. If you have one of those early axle shafts, you will need to replace the QU40071 2-1/4" Large Rubber V-Seal included in QU42007 Spindle Kit with either QU20040 2" ID Rubber V-Seal or QU40043 Spindle to Axle Shaft Seal.

Tech Note 5: Spindle Seals, Late Applications
If you have worked on later model Dana axles with two spindle seals, you may wonder why QU40056 Small Spindle V-Seal was not used on your original spindle and why one is not included in our parts list. The answer is: The bearing bore in original spindles is generally not machined deep enough to accept both the spindle bearing and QU40056 Seal.

Tech Note 6: Installation
Before installing your new spindle, lube the bearing, seals, and thrust washer with QU90018 Pyroplex® grease. Also, apply some Anti-Seize Compound to the mating surfaces between the spindle and steering knuckle.
