2005-2016 Front CV Driveshaft Introduction
For 2005-2016 Ford Super Duty 4x4 trucks, Ford used a Chinese made 2-3/4" tube, 1350 series Double-Cardan Front Constant Velocity Driveshaft with a booted female splined sleeve/male yoke shaft type slip joint. The u-joints and Constant Velocity parts are dimensionally virtually the same and are interchangeable with Spicer 1350 series u-joints and CV parts.
Service procedures and tools used to rebuild these driveshafts are identical to those used for genuine Spicer Constant Velocity Joints with the exception that a different type of snap ring pliers is required. The amount of force required to press out the u-joint cups does seem to be somewhat higher for the Chinese shafts compared to genuine Spicer, especially when corrosion between the parts is evident.
The CV and Slip Joint parts are identical for all 2005-2016 factory Ford Front CV driveshafts with only the tube length changing to accommodate different drivetrain and chassis combinations.
Our replacement greaseable driveshaft Slip Joint parts differ from the booted non-greaseable parts used on Ford original equipment shafts.
