6,000 Pound Dana Super 60 Front Axle Introduction
The 6000 pound rated, Dana Super 60 Front Driving Axle with 8 Bolt Wheels was first used in 2005 model year Ford Super Duty F250 and F350 trucks. 2005 also was the year Ford switched to 3-Link, coil spring front suspension for all 4x4 Super Duty trucks. Except for some differential parts and the original axle u-joints, very few parts are interchangeable between the standard, leaf spring Dana 60 front axle used for 1999-2004 Super Duty models and the 2005 to 2010 Super 60 axles.
The Dana Super 60 is a reliable and strong front axle. The most common service parts required are Brake Pads, Hublock Service Kits, Outer Axle Shaft to Knuckle Seals (which require QT1530 Seal Installer), Axle Tube Seals, Axle U-Joints, Wheel Hub Assemblies, and Ball Joints. Due to the unusually large number of part number supersessions with these axles, many genuine Dana replacement parts will look slightly different than your original part.
You will need to provide us with your truck serial number and Dana Bill of Materials (BOM) number from the white Mylar decal on the back of the right axle tube. The Dana BOM is a seven digit number starting with the number 2. The seven digit number is followed by a 1 or 2 digit dash number (ex. 2004633-2) that indicates ratio, differential, and equipment options. The BOM number is what we use to positively identify your axle's build configuration.
