Description
Despite it's small size, the SnoGriz #1 offers a surprising amount of inside storage and easy to use functionality. The unit can be configured to sleep either one or two people by removing or installing a cot located above the main bed. Extra gear, tools, recovery equipment, chain saw, spare parts/fluids etc. can be carried in the cab. Camp gear and more can be stored in the rear cargo compartment
One of the design elements of the SnoGiz is the ability to quickly set up or take down camp. To do this, everything needs to be readily accessible and easy to secure for rough terrain. Other than the 2 Rotopax cans there is nothing carried externally and exposed to the weather, grasping tree branches, or thieving varmints.
Beds: The lower bunk has a comfortable FoamRush 4" x 28" x 75" Gel foam memory mattress placed over a plywood base. The upper bunk is a 28" x 74" CampTime removable cot that is retained by 4 bolts with wingnuts. Space between the beds (21.5 and 18") is a bit on the tight side especially for big/tall folks but the spacing was dictated by the 8' overall camper design height from the ground to roof. Future builds will have a little bit more room, but there is no way we have yet found to provide super-roomy bunks within the small overall size of the hard-sided mountain camper and still retain air conditioning. Historical Note: In WWII, huge numbers of United States service men were transported to combat theaters in ships that had cots vertically spaced 18" apart. The lower bed has fitted sheets and Polartec blankets. Depending upon the time of the year we use either a sleeping bag or blankets for the upper bunk.

Privacy Curtain: The living area can be divided diagonally into two "rooms" by hanging a lightweight privacy curtain from a shock cord attached to provided eyebolts. The curtain gives a measure of privacy to the bathroom area.
Net Storage: Over three dozen net storage pockets of different sizes are located inside the camper. The net storage allows easy visual identification of the contents while keeping everything in place on rough trails.

Drawers: Two 18" long slide-out drawers are located under the lower bunk. We use these to carry plates, cups, kitchen gear plus dry and canned foods. The drawers are of dovetailed wood construction mounted to full-extension ball bearing slides. A wingnut is used to secure each drawer for rough terrain. Future builds will use a latch instead of a wingnut.

Drying Racks: Two folding hanger racks for drying wet clothes are provided for use when the vehicle is in camp. The racks are mounted to either side of the bedroom entry and they fold out into the living space. These racks are not strong enough to use when the vehicle is in motion, but they work well to dry clothes in camp when the heater is on. Coat hangers are stowed behind the water tank.

Coat Hooks: A number of coat hooks are attached to the walls to hang clothing and hats. Some are for use when parked, others are located so elastic cords can be used to secure clothing on rough trails.

Outside Access Storage: An insulated and lockable cargo compartment under the lower bunk is accessible from a back wall cargo door. The cargo door opening is about 9-1/4" high x 15-1/2" wide. Compartment length at floor level is 38" long x 24-1/4" wide. The compartment extends under the refrigerator and compressor, so the height varies. In this compartment we typically carry 2 CampTime folding chairs, CampTime roll-up table, extension cord, axe, camp stove, GoTreads traction boards/vehicle levelers, outside rug, camp kitchen items, awning, and more. Being able to easily access these outside use items from the outside has been a very handy feature.

RotoPax Carriers: Two lockable RotoPax mounts are located at the rear corners of the camper. These can be used to carry RotaPax fuel, water, DEF, or cargo containers. Although the RotoPax 2 gallon containers will block the original tail lights, they do not affect the function of the Blind Spot Detection System or the side maker lights. The containers are pretty well protected from tree branches but we did slight twist the left mount when we backed into a rock maneuvering to get our winch cable to a rolled over side by side UTV at the base of the Morrison Jeep Trail.
