1990-1993 Dodge Dana 60 and Dana 61 Front Axles
The open knuckle, Dana-Spicer Model 60 Front Axle was first used by Dodge in the 1 ton W300 4x4 trucks for the 1975 model year and it would remain largely unchanged through the end of the 1993 model year except for the switch to splined wheel and lock out hubs in 1990.
The 1990-1993 Dana 60 has very durable greaseable king pins and disc brakes. The wheel bearings are serviceable and it uses a dead-spindle configuration. Available factory gear sets for these years included 3.54, 4.10, 4.56, and 4.88 ratios. The very similar Dana 61 axles can be found in 1990 to 1993 model year trucks with 3.07 or 3.54 ratio gear sets. The model 61 is basically a modified Model 60 with a different pinion offset to accommodate a larger diameter pinion gear. Except for the differential housing and some differential components, all the parts are interchangeable between the Dodge Dana 60 and 61 models.
Dodge was the last U.S. vehicle manufacturer to offer the rugged King Pin front 4x4 Model 60, discontinuing this fine axle at the end of the 1993 model year.
