IDN-403 NP231, NP241 Input Shaft Chart for New Process Transfer Cases
Many New Process and New Venture Chain Drive Transfer Cases use input shaft and planetary low range units of similar design which allows for a fair range of input shaft interchangeability for conversion and special applications. The most common models/inputs used in conversions are the mechanical shift NP231 and NP241 series cases. Some of the other New Process/New Venture transfer case models use the same inputs as the 231/241, but for simplicity, we will just stick to the two named cases.

Both Transfer Case models were used by multiple vehicle makes including Chevy, Dodge. GMC, and Jeep. Both models also went through multiple "generations" and changes so there is no 1 part fits all interchangeability. Starting with the basics, there are Wide and Narrow Tooth Planetary Gear Sets and Wide and Narrow Input Bearings. There are also multiple spline sizes and different Input Shaft to Mainshaft Pilot Bearing Bores.
