One lockwasher tab should be bent over a flat on the inner nut and either one or two are bent over flats on the outer nut.

Customer Statement: "Nonreusable? Dan what are you talking about? I always reuse them until all the tabs break off!"

Response: Well guys, for safety reasons, these lock washers must be discarded after every use. That means any time you bend up a tab to readjust or remove the spindle nuts. Why? Metal fatigue. The outer lock tabs lose some of their strength after they are straightened out. Also, the inside tab that fits in the spindle keyway has a tendency to shear when the outer nut is tightened against it more than one time. Reusing a bend over tab lockwasher may save you a few dollars, but by doing so you might kill yourself and others when you lose a hub and wheel going 75 mph down the Interstate.
