TS4867 Dana 60 Fixed Depth Inner Axle Seal Tool Set Quickly and easily installs QU40059 Inner Axle Seal to a precise depth in all Chevy, Dodge, Ford, GMC, and International 4x4 trucks with open knuckle Dana 60 and Dana 61 front drive axles with King Pins. Our unique installer design will press in new your Inner Axle Seals without damage because the CNC Precision Machined Installation Tool cups the seal so force is only applied on the steel seal shell. Kit Includes QT1130 Thrust Plate, QT1156 Installer, QT1170 Press Nut (not sold separately), QTA1133 Press Screw and QT9905 Retaining Pin(not sold separately). Tech Note 1: Must Remove
Your brakes, wheel hubs, axle shafts, and differential must be removed from the housing to replace your QU40059 inner axle shaft seals.

Tech Note 2:  Seal type
The inner axle seals used on all Chevy, Dodge, Ford, GMC, and IHC King Pin type, open knuckle Dana Model 60 and Model 61 Front Axles is the same. The seals and tools are different for 1976 and prior closed knuckle Dana 60 front axles and on all 1992 and newer Ford and 1994 and newer Dodge trucks with ball joint type Model 60 axles.

Tech Note 3:  Seal Depth
TS4867 Seal Installer Set uses QT1156 Model 60 specific Depth Stop Seal Installer which has a raised flange on it that will stop against the axle bore face when the seal is at the correct depth. This is a more fool-proof setup than our adjustable depth tool, but it is a little more expensive and you cannot vary the seal depth to miss a groove worn in the axle shaft. We also offer TS4656 Tool Set that uses QT1042 adjustable depth installer which allows you to offset the seal to miss a worn spot on the axle shaft. This is a valuable feature however, YOU have to determine the final depth of the seal. It is possible to seat the seal too deep with QT1042 installer which can put the seal beyond they machined seal surface of the axle shaft.

Tech Note 4: Match Seal To Installer
Due to the way we have to make the tool to function, your Seal Installer and Seal MUST match. QT1156 Installer will only work with original equipment design, NOK manufactured seals such as our QU40059. Seals manufactured by other seal manufacturers WILL NOT WORK WITH THIS INSTALLER!!!!

Tech Note 5: Removing
Once the axle is disassembled, the old seals can be easily removed with our TS4862 Seal Remover Tool Set or other suitable tool such as a length of sturdy pipe that will fit inside the axle tube. You will also need to clean the inside of the axle tube to remove dirt and crud that could get pushed into your new seal during reassembly.

*For some reason, a few mid 1980's W-350 single rear wheel trucks have a wimpy Model 44 axle!
