Your brakes, wheel hubs, axle shafts, and differential must be removed from the housing to replace your QU40244 Inner Axle Shaft Seals. For Ford 1999-2004 Super Duty®, please refer to these 4x4 Tech Publications for service procedures:

Tech Note 3: To Use TS4644
The inner axle seals used on 1999 and newer Model 50 and 60 Ford front axles is the same, however the depth the seals are installed in the housing is different.
With the TS4644 Set, you get QT1126 Seal Installer which is made to work with both Model 50 and 60 axles. It's less expensive, but you have to know when the seal is at the correct depth.
To get the correct seal depth when using QT1126 with a Model 60 axle do this: Before you take out the old seals, place QT1126 Seal Installer in the old seal and scribe a mark on the tool at the axle bore face. During installation, just press the seal in until the scribed mark lines up with the bore face and your new seal is installed to the correct depth!
Choose TS4644 Set for price and versatility, keeping in mind you have to stop pressing the seal in when it is to the correct depth. However, YOU MUST be careful you do not set the seal TOO DEEP which may place the seal beyond the axle shaft seal surface!
Tech Note 4: To Use TS4807
TS4807 uses QT1128 Model 60 specific Depth Stop Seal Installer which has a raised flange on it that will stop against the axle bore face when the seal is at the correct depth. This is a more fool-proof setup than TS4644, but it's a little more expensive and you can not use this Installer on a Model 50 axle. Choose TS4807 for simplicity & even quicker installation!

Tech Note 6: Seal Remover Tool Set
Once the axle is disassembled, the old seals can be easily removed with our QK4647 Seal Remover Tool Set or another suitable tool such as a length of sturdy pipe that will fit inside the axle tube and oil guide. You will also need to clean the inside of the axle tube to remove dirt and crud that could get pushed into your new seal during reassembly. For 1999-2004 vehicles, QK4647 is made it fit through QU20039 Plastic Axle Shaft Guides which are located in the axle tubes just outboard of the inner axle shaft oil seals.
Tech Note 7: Always Inspect
When replacing your inner axle seals, ALWAYS inspect your Ball Joints, Axle Universal Joints, Differential Bearings, Outer Axle Shaft Support Bearing, and Wheel Hubs for wear or damage. The extra time needed to replace these components is minimal since you already have the axle apart to do the axle seals. Also, the large diameter seals on each outer axle shaft are not reusable and must be replaced with a new one using a special tool to prevent water infiltration and/or vacuum loss.

as I said above needs a small edge to stop the seal in the right depth

inner Axle seal in stall tool
The install tool worked great except the part that goes against the housing did not fit into the Bearing area to be centered up in the Axle tube so I had to modify to make it work, once I got it centered it pushed the seal in with no issues Note from Torque King: Ford used both Dana 50 and Dana 60 front axles in the 1999-2004 era Super Duty 4x4s. They look identical on the outside, but the differential bearing size (and the size of our Axle Seal Thrust Plate) is different. TK4644 is for Dana 60 front axles which have a differential bearing cup diameter of 3-13/16". Dana 50 axles use Kit QT4643 and the differential bearing cup diameter is 3-1/4".
