QT2070 Booted Rear Output Seal Installer for 2003-2022 Ram 2500, Ram 3500 with NV271D, NV273D, BW4446, and BW4447 Transfer Cases with Slip Yoke Type Rear Output Shafts. QT2070 is a USA made tool that makes installing the large booted QU10930 or QU50323 rear output seals used on 2003-current RAM 2500 and 3500 trucks a quick and painless operation. No more wrecking the seal or whacking your fingers when you try to install a seal without this installer. A seal pilot puts tension on the seal lip and garter spring which prevents the garter spring from popping off the lip from installation impact. The boot fits into a deep recess machined in the tool. In addition to installing a new seal, QT2070 works great as a sealing cap any time you have the rear driveshaft removed from your transfer case. Just pop QT2070 into the open seal, and presto dirt stays out and oil stays in!

Tech Note 1: Lube
Before installation apply clean grease to the seal lip to provide initial lubrication. Also coat your slip yoke with a thin film of clean grease before installation.
Tech Note 2: Installation
When installing your new seal, rotate the seal so the drainage drain hole in the extended Boot will be at the bottom.
Tech Note 3: NPG-NVG-MPT
When Ford (1999 models) and Dodge (2003 models) first used NV271 and NV273 transfer cases, New Process Gear (NPG) of East Syracuse N.Y. was part of New Venture Gear (NVG). When NVG dissolved, NPG continued on under Chrysler. Chrysler subsequently sold the production rights to Magna, a Canadian automotive parts company. All these name changes are confusing, but the important thing to know is a specific assembly number for any 271F, 271D, 273D, and 273F transfer case is the same and uses the same replacement parts regardless if it was built by New Venture, New Process, or Magna.
