QT2055 Input Seal Installer for New Venture NV271 and NV273 Transfer Cases quickly and easily install your QU50254 NV271 or NV273 Transfer Case input seal without damage using our USA made QT2055 Seal Installer. Works on all 2003-2012 Dodge Ram NV271D/NV273D and 1999-2016 Ford NV271F/NV273F models (EXCEPT 2010-2016 Ford Super Duty 4x4s with Powerstroke Diesel engines which have transfer cases with the 43 spline input shafts see Tech Note 2 below). QT2055 Installer has a lip that keeps the seal centered on the tool during installation preventing the seal shell and flange from being bent from uneven installation pressure. Unlike makeshift installation methods, QT2055 makes input seal installation fast and painless plus the input shaft is protected from hammer damage during the installation process.

Tech Note 1: GM273C Input Seal Installer
2004-2009 Chevy Top Kick and GMC Kodiak C4500 and C5500 4x4s have remote mount NV273C Transfer Cases that use QU20195 as the input seal. QU20195 is also the front output seal on ALL NV271 and NV273 transfer cases AND the rear output seal for models with fixed rear output flanges. Use QT2054 Seal Installer to install the input seal on your GM273C transfer case. (Note: QU20195 Premium Viton Lip seal replaces QU20041,QU30174, and QU80048 nitrile lip seals)
Tech Note 2: Ford 2011-2016 with Powerstroke Diesel Input Seal Installer
2011-2016 Ford Super 4x4s with Powerstroke Diesel engines use NV271F and NV273F transfer cases with large, 43 spline input shafts. Use QT2079 Seal Installer to install TK20690 Input Seal that is unique to this application.
Tech Note 3: Lubricate
Lubricate the Seal Lip with clean grease before installation to provide initial lubrication.
Tech Note 4: New Venture/New Process/Magna
When Ford (1999 models) and Dodge (2003 models) first used NV271 and NV273 transfer cases, New Process Gear (NPG) of East Syracuse N.Y. was part of New Venture Gear (NVG). When NVG dissolved, NPG continued on under Chrysler. Chrysler subsequently sold the production rights to Magna, a Canadian automotive parts company. All these name changes are confusing, but the important thing to know is a specific assembly number for any 271F, 271D, 273D, and 273F transfer case is the same and uses the same replacement parts regardless if it was built by New Venture, New Process, or Magna.
