QT2054 Transfer Case Seal Installer for New Venture NV271 and NV273 Transfer Cases quickly and easily install your NV271 and NV273 Transfer Case front output, fixed rear output, or remote mount input input seal without damage using our QT2054 Seal Installer. Works on front output and fixed flange rear output seals on all 2004-2009 Chevy/GMC NV273C, 2003-2012 Dodge Ram NV271D/NV273D, plus 1999-2016 Ford NV271F/NV273F models. QT2054 ALSO installs the Input Seal in NV273C remote mount transfer cases used in 2004-2009 Chevy and GMC C4500, C5500 4x4s. QT2054 Installer has a lip that keeps the seal centered on the tool during installation preventing the seal shell and flange from being bent from uneven installation pressure. Unlike makeshift installation methods, QT2054 makes input seal installation fast and painless plus your shaft is protected from hammer damage during the installation process.

Tech Note 1: Matching Seals
QU20195 is the current production NV271/NV273 output and input seal. QU20195 is also the front output seal on ALL NV271 and NV273 transfer cases AND the rear output seal for models with fixed rear output flanges, plus it is the INPUT seal for 2004-2009 GM NV273 remote mount transfer cases. QU20195 Premium Viton Lip seal replaces QU20041,QU30174, and QU80048 nitrile lip seals. QT2054 works on original equipment type seals as supplied by New Venture Gear, it may or may not be compatible with aftermarket seals.
Tech Note 2: Ford 2011-2016 with Powerstroke Diesel Input Seal Installer
2011-2016 Ford Super 4x4s with Powerstroke Diesel engines use NV271F and NV273F transfer cases with large, 43 spline input shafts. Use QT2079 Seal Installer to install TK20690 Input Seal that is unique to this application.
Tech Note 3: Lubricate
Lubricate the Seal Lip with clean grease before installation to provide initial lubrication.
Tech Note 4: New Venture/New Process/Magna
When Ford (1999 models) and Dodge (2003 models) first used NV271 and NV273 transfer cases, New Process Gear (NPG) of East Syracuse N.Y. was part of New Venture Gear (NVG). When NVG dissolved, NPG continued on under Chrysler. Chrysler subsequently sold the production rights to Magna, a Canadian automotive parts company. All these name changes are confusing, but the important thing to know is a specific assembly number for any 271F, 271D, 273D, and 273F transfer case is the same and uses the same replacement parts regardless if it was built by New Venture, New Process, or Magna.
