QT1266 Rear Wheel Hub to Spindle Alignment Tool for 2" Spindles is a USA Made special hub service tool specific to 2003-current Dodge Ram 2500, Ram 3500 AAM 10.5", 11.5" and 12"  Rear Axles with 2" spindle threads, however it will work on any 2" full-floating rear axle spindle with an inside spindle diameter of 1-9/16" or larger. QT1266 slips in the end of the spindle to help you guide the rear wheel hub into position without damaging the wheel seal or spindle threads. CNC machined by us right here in Montana from domestic steel. Black Oxide finish. QT1266 replaces Mopar Special Service Tool 2012800031.

Tech Note 1: Lubrication
Under operating conditions, the rear wheel bearings are bathed in oil from the differential, but they do need to be pre-lubricated to provide initial lubrication.

Tech Note 2: Oil Bath Seal for 2003-2018 RAM 3500 Dually
QU50246 is a unitized Oil Bath type rear wheel seal. The rotating sealing surface is inside the seal. Both the ID of the seal is a tight fit on the spindle and the OD is a press fit in the wheel hub. In operation the outer portion of the seal rotates around the inside component. Oil Bath wheel seals can be easily damaged during installation by make-shift or wrong tooling. For best results, I strongly recommend you use QT1546 Wheel Seal Installer and either QT1100 1"or QT1116 1-1/4" diameter Driver Handles.

Tech Note 3: Axle Vent
Many wheel seal leaks are caused by pressure building in the axle due to a clogged axle vent system. Always check and clear the vent system. Other common causes of leaking seals include improper wheel bearing adjustment, poor installation techniques (See Tech Notes 2), and damaged spindle surface or hub bore.

Tech Note 4: Hub Alignment Tool Recommended
To minimize the chance of damaging your wheel seal lip when installing heavy rear wheel hubs, I recommend you use QT1266 Hub Alignment Tool to support and align the hub assembly as you slide it onto the spindle. QT1266 slips into the end of your spindle. QT1266 acts as a temporary spindle extension to support the weight of the hub on the inner bearing races instead of the seal as you slide the hub on the spindle. When you install your wheel hubs without QT1266 Hub Alignment tool, you always risk cutting the seal lip on the sharp spindle threads as you start the hub on the spindle. Not only are seals expensive, a leaking rear wheel seal soaks your brake components, wheel, and tire with gear lube. QT1266 fits any Dodge, Ram, Chevy, Ford, GMC, or International 2" thread rear axle spindle with a minimum inside diameter of 1-9/16".

Tech Note 8: QT1266 Does NOT Work on 2019-up RAM 3500 Dually PICKUP with High Output Cummins
2019-up Ram 3500 Dually PICKUPS with the High Output (HO) Cummins Diesel engine have 2-1/2" Spindle Ends. Use QT1267 Hub Alignment Tool for these applications. Only the HO dually pickups have the larger spindle, DRW Ram 3500 chassis cab and pickups without the HO engine have 2" spindles and use QT1266 Hub Alignment Tool.
