Tech Note 1: Kit Components
QK3010 1310 Series CV Rebuild Kit includes:
(3) QU40784 Greaseable Universal Joints
(2) QU40780 Cup Type Zerk Fittings for the 2 u-joints in the CV Head
QU40743 Replacement CV Ball and Socket Kit for YOUR Greaseable CV Centering Yoke Casting
S9978 Threadlocker

Tech Note 2: U-Joint Specs
QK3010 Kit fits greaseable, 1310 x 1310 Spicer type Double Cardan Constant Velocity Driveshafts with 3 external snap ring universal joints made to Spicer 1310 series specifications. The u-joint cup diameter is 1-1/16". The overall width is 3-7/32".

Tech Note 3: Centering Yoke Kits
If your CV Flange casting is OK, you can save money by replacing just the worn ball and seat with this Kit. Be advised you will need a 1"-1¼" blind hole bearing puller to remove the old seat and a hydraulic press for installation. We also have QK3008 and TK3061 Kits available which include the CV centering yoke with factory installed Ball and Seat Kit.

Tech Note 4: Tool
Installing this CV Kit can be challenging unless you have an install tool. A good, makeshift tool to use to press against the Socket. is your old, worn out socket without the ball.

Tech Note 5: Ball Stud Tube Yoke
To successfully rebuild your CV driveshaft with this Kit, the 1/2" diameter stud on your Ball Stud Tube Yoke MUST be in good shape. If it is not, the bearing rollers contained inside the CV Ball of your new centering kit will either fall out or break apart in short order. Besides having your 4x4 broke down again, this type of failure is something we can NOT replace under warranty. Another fairly common no warranty problem is to break a needle bearing by inadvertently dislodging one or more needles during assembly and then forcing the yoke into place.

Tech Note 6: Includes
QK3010 CV Rebuild Kit now includes two QU40780 Cup Type Grease Fittings for the two u-joints in the CV Head. These fittings provide more clearance to access the grease fittings once your shaft is installed in your 4x4.

Tech Note 7: Greaseable
QK3010 fits 1994 and earlier 1310 series CV driveshafts that originally had a greaseable CV centering yoke. We do not recommend you use this kit to replace a non-greaseable centering yoke due to possible interference issues caused by differences in the greaseable and nongreaseable Ball Stud Tube Yoke Deflector or Seal.

Tech Note 8: 1987-1994 Jeeps
For 1987 to 1994 Jeeps, you need to verify if your original CV Centering Kit is greaseable or not greaseable. While most greaseable Jeep CV joints of this era will have a lube access hole in the center H Yoke, you may also find some non-greaseable shafts with the same yoke. The real determining factor is if the Ball Stud Tube Yoke has a steel or rubber splash shield/seal. Greaseable Type Shafts have QU40341 steel Splash Shield while non-greaseable shafts use QU40704 outer rubber Dust Seal.

Tech Note 9: Modified/Replaced Driveshaft
Given the age of the vehicles that originally had Greaseable Spicer 1310 CV driveshafts, it is not unusual to find the original CV shaft has been replaced or modified with non-stock parts. If you believe your driveshaft has been modified/replaced with non-stock parts OR the description of our Kit parts does not match what is on your shaft, contact us. We can usually figure out what you have if you send us some photos.
