Description
QT5500 Wheel Bearing Packer with Cover takes the mess out of packing wheel bearings, plus it minimizes the chances of getting contaminants mixed with your wheel bearing grease. I have been using mine for many, many years! The QT5500 Bearing Packer does an absolutely beautiful job of forcing grease between the individual bearing rollers. The easiest and most efficient way to repack tapered roller bearings up to 3-47/64" maximum width! Includes clear plastic base that will hold up to 1 pound of most greases, lower plate with o-ring seal, a two piece extendable forcing cone, adapters for smaller bearings, and a black plastic cover. Can be refilled using a grease gun attached to the zerk fitting in the center stem (not visible in photo) or by squeezing the contents of a standard 14 oz. grease tube into the base (like a giant tube of toothpaste). USA Made.

Tech Note 1: Save Time
QT5500 is one of the slickest tools to have on your tool shelf. Not only does it save time, save grease, and do a better, cleaner job compared to hand packing bearings, the QT5500 reduces your exposure to all the chemicals found in modern greases. Did you ever think about the compounds you force into your skin as you push grease between the rollers when hand packing?
Tech Note 2: Clean
After greasing, clean any grease that might have gotten on the outside of base. Between jobs, keep your QT5500 covered with a clean rag. To refill, thread the outer part of the forcing cone onto the lower plate stem. Pull up with a rocking motion to break the vacuum. Leave the lower plate in the base in if you are refilling with a grease gun or remove the plate to fill from a tube or bulk grease source. To help you remove the lower plate, it is equipped with an assist spring that will push against the base floor when your grease is all used up.
Tech Note 3: Just Over 3-3/4” Inside Diameter
QT5500 has a inside diameter of just over 3-3/4" so it will work on almost all 1 ton and smaller truck 4x4 outer wheel bearings, front inner wheel bearings and single rear wheel inner bearings except 1985-1997 Fords with the 10.25" rear axle (QU50626). For dual rear wheel trucks, it is large enough for most GM trucks with the 10.5" or Dana 70 rear axle and most Fords with Dana 70 or Dana 80 rear axles, however, it is not large enough for 1970s to current Dodge dual rear wheel trucks (QU50624), GM dually trucks with 11.5" rear axles, or 1985-1997 Ford DRW 10.25" axles (QU50626).

This is made of high quality plastic not brittle crack faster junk. Looks and feels HD.. only downfall no directions for us dummys.. I searched the site and u tube and found zero info. It has numerous pieces that can go different ways so trying to figure it out if you've never used one is almost impossible. But it wouldn't be the first time I was the slowest in the room so maybe it's just me. But I'd love to learn how to use it the right way cause chasing it across the shop because it slipped out of my hands probably isn't the point of this tool.
