Tech Note 2: Installing
GM 14 Bolts full float rear axles are one of the few axles that still use a cut paper differential cover gasket. If you want to use RTV sealant with this gasket, only apply a thin film to each side unless you are filling in a deep gouge in the cover or housing.

Tech Note 3: Prior to 1994
In 1994, General Motors sold its axle division to a group of investors who renamed their new acquisition American Axle Manufacturing (AAM). The AAM 14 Bolt, 10-1/2" Ring Gear full floater rear axle is what used to be called the Chevy or GM corporate 14 Bolt, 10-1/2" Ring Gear full float rear axle.
