Description
QU50629 Timken® Tapered Roller Bearing Cup is used for many different applications including IHC or Jeep 4x4 front wheel bearings, Ford differential side bearings, and transmission bearings but the most common 4x4 specific application would be as an inner front wheel bearing cup on 1976 to 1986 Jeep CJ 4x4 front drive axles with disc brakes. This is a First Class, original equipment quality bearing cup that meets or exceeds all vehicle manufacturer specifications making it the top choice for heavy-duty applications like yours. Country of origin may vary as Timken produces Bearings in plants located around the globe, however, QU50629 is almost always made in either Canada or the United States.

Applications
Tech Note 1: Matching Bearing
Always replace the cup and cone at the same time. The matching Bearing is QU50630. There is also a high performance version of this Timken Bearing used as the countershaft front bearing cup in New Venture NV4500 5 speed manual transmissions, see QU10143.
Tech Note 2: 1959-1996 Ford F100, F150, Bronco 9" Rear Axle
In May of 1970, Ford made an engineering change to the 9" truck rear axle. Effective with trucks produced on May 11, 1970, MOST 1970-1972 and all 1973-1986 Ford 9" rear axles axles will use QU50630 1-25/32" ID Differential Side Bearing and QU50629 2-57/64" OD Differential Bearing Cup. Previously, Ford built a standard 9" with 1-5/8" Cone x 2-57/64" cup and a heavy-duty 9" with 1-25/32" cone x 3-1/16" cup.
Tech Note 3: Wheel Bearing Lubrication
Front Wheel Bearings MUST be fully packed with grease before installation. This means all the voids between the bearing rollers must be filled with grease and the contact areas of the rollers along with the matching bearing cup must be covered with a film of grease. Always use, new, quality, clean grease to pack bearings. For most applications, NLGI#2 EP rated grease is recommended for Wheel Bearings. Disc Brake applications also require the grease be approved for Disc Brake use and/or have a high-temperature rating. Use of Bearing Packer QT5500 is recommended.
Tech Note 4: Differential or Transmission Bearing Lubrication
Prior to installation, lubricate differential or transmission bearings and cups with the same lubricant as will be used to fill the unit. Use only new, clean oil approved for the differential or transmission being serviced.
Tech Note 5: Bearing Cup Installer
Use QT1802 Bearing Cup Installer and matching QT1100 series Driver Handle to install your new wheel bearing cup quickly and safely. Don't wreck you new cup or damage the wheel hub using makeshift tools like a punch.
