QU50492 Rear Differential Bearing & Seal Kit for 1973-83, 86-87 GM 14Bolt

QU50492 1973-1983 and 1986-1987 Rear Differential Bearing and Seal Kit for GM 14 Bolt, 10-1/2" Ring Gear, Full Float Rear Axles features first class Timken® Differential and Pinion Bearings, Pinion Pilot (Nose) Roller Bearing, Pinion Seal, Flanged Pinion Nut, Crush Sleeve, Gear Marking Compound, Threadlocker, and RTV Sealant. Also fits some early 1988 R/V 3500 old body style trucks. This Kit, plus two QU30010 axle shaft flange gaskets (and 2 QU40037 Bend Over Tab Spindle Lock Washers for 1973-1981 models) are usually all the parts needed when you are doing a simple diff rebearing job and not replacing your Ring and Pinion Set or repacking/replacing the wheel bearings.

Tech Note 1: Pinion Seal
The Pinion Seal included with this Kit is a good quality aftermarket part. For a Premium Original Equipment Quality Pinion Seal for your 1973-1987 truck, order optional QU30115 Seal

Tech Note 2: Wear
Inspect your pinion yoke hub for wear or damage in the area where the seal rides. Replace any any yoke that has significant grooving or other conditions that could wreck or prematurely wear your new seal.

Tech Note 3: 1st & 2nd Design
1988 R and V series, old square body style 3500 series Chevy and GMC trucks were built with both 1st and 2nd design, 14 Bolt full floating rear axles. This Bearing fits 1988 1st design axles using an inner pinion bearing cup that is 3-1/2" in diameter. Second design axles have an inner pinion bearing cup diameter of 3-3/4" and use Kit QU50695.

Tech Note 4: Pilot Bearing Note
QU50554 Pinion Pilot Bearing or Nose Bearing included with this Kit has an approximate outside diameter of 2-3/64". It will NOT fit 1984-1985 axles that use QU30243 1-3/4" outside diameter bearing!!
